dts

(Bilingual English/Spanish)

Offered every April and September with three months of lecture phase and two – three months of outreach. University of the Nations (U of N) registered.

This school is an intensive Christian discipleship course beginning with 3 months of lecture/teaching phase followed by a 2- 3 month practical field assignment (Outreach phase). It is a prerequisite for all other courses in the University of the Nations, and also serves to orient and prepare all new Youth With A Mission (YWAM) staff.

The DTS is designed to encourage students in personal character development, cultivating their relationship with God and identifying their unique gifts and callings. Cross-cultural exposure and global awareness are special emphases throughout the course, preparing the students to evangelize and disciple current and future generations, answering the call to “Go into all the world and teach (make disciples of) all nations.” (Matthew 28:19).

During the lecture phase, you will be immersed in a schedule that will offer you time alone with God, small group interaction, classroom teachings, study time, weekly outreaches, fellowship and ministry. You will also have free time for fellowship, personal study time and the opportunity to let it all soak in.

Come with us as we take Gods expression of love to the nations and make Him known. Once the three months of lecture phase are complete, you will finish your DTS requirements by taking what you have already learned and applying it in practice on the mission field. Two to three months of outreach will include displays of service, friendship evangelism, and all that the Lord leads the DTS team as they walk out what they have learned in lecture phase, with other students and their own personal growth in the Lord. We seek to stir up these regions with fresh faith for what is possible when the people of God begin to believe that the God of the Bible is who He says that He is. The final week is debriefing, teachings and a lot of fellowship, after which you will graduate from DTS.

“I believe it (DTS) is the most important ministry/program we have in the whole of YWAM, because it is the doorway into the mission and the University of the Nations. It is the foundation for everything, where people are met with faith, where they come to understand the history and values of YWAM; where they are presented with mission opportunities…and it’s where their own vision may be fueled.”
Darlene Cunningham – YWAM Co-founder

DTS

WHAT IS THE PURPOSE OF THE YWAM DTS

To gather and challenge people to worship, listen to and obey God, releasing them (in the context of the DTS) to serve through evangelism, intercession, acts of compassion and other expressions of God’s heart for the world, possibly even pioneering new ministries. To inspire and cultivate growth in one’s relationship with God resulting in Christ like character, which is based on a solid Biblical foundation, the work of the Holy Spirit and the personal application of Biblical truth, especially concerning God’s Character, the Cross and empowering Grace. To sharpen one’s ability to relate to, learn from and work with people, including those of different cultures, personalities and perspectives. To further equip each one to serve God’s purposes either in or outside of YWAM Family of Ministries, strengthening a commitment to reach the lost, especially the unreached, to care for the poor, and to influence all areas of society. To impart the vision and foundational values of Youth With A Mission International as well as that of the host operating location and to provide information regarding a variety of opportunities for service.
