*Cost per person, per week is $250. Participating in at least four weeks will allow for a discounted rate of $225 per week. This covers housing, food, and course materials. Students with special dietary needs could have additional costs.

Students will learn about the different techniques used in sustainable agriculture. This will include soil preparation, composting, planting, crop rotation, etc. They will also learn how to incorporate domestic animals into the system for nitrogen inputs and as a source of dietary protein needed in developing communities.
Students will learn how to construct and maintain a functional aquaponics system with the goal of producing food. They will learn how to select the proper species of fish, stocking ratios, and water testing to maintain balance and health in the fish population. We will also show them the advantages and disadvantages of growing plants in water and gravel mediums.
Community Water Technology
The students will learn how to develop water and sanitation systems. This will include water collection, purification, and testing. They will learn how to build sand filters and latrines. This seminar also includes training in water related diseases and their prevention.
The students will learn how to use appropriate technology in the construction of water collection tanks, Rus pumps, bio-digesters, rocket stoves, and solar ovens which can be used in community development. They will also learn how to assess what types of alternate energy are most appropriate for the region and are the pros and cons of each.
