SCHOOL OF SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT

PURPOSE

The school of Sustainable Development is designed to provide students with knowledge and practical experience in the following areas:

  1. Water collection, purification and storage
  2. Food production with creative techniques for difficult environments
  3. Solar energy through thermal capture and photovoltaic cells
  4. Animal development and care
  5. Recycling and creative use of waste
  6. Biblical Foundations to be a good stewards of our land, water, air and bodies
Graduates of the School of Sustainable Development have been able to minister effectively to the physical needs of people in various parts of the world and have been able to share the good news of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Some countries, which are closed to Christian missionaries, have opened when they learned that the YWAM graduates of this class could help their people have clean water and increased food production with effective alternative methods. The lack of clean water and appropriate hygiene methods are some of the leading causes of death in the world. This course will show multiple ways to turn dirty contaminated water in to clean safe water, proper hygiene & sanitation methods to decrease disease & illness, transformative community technologies, and sustainable agricultural methods to increase food production & quality.
In the past, the SSD school outreaches have worked alongside refugees in Taiwan, environmental / medical work in Kenya and Nicaragua, relief work in Haiti after the earthquake, and agricultural development in Malawi. The techniques learned have been used and demonstrated wherever the teams have gone and have shown to be valuable in expressing God’s love to those in need.
Our outreach locations have focus in Eastern Africa, Central and South America, Eastern Europe and Western Asia; however we may go to other locations as the Lord leads.
Our SSD School is registered with University of the Nations (U of N).
