Many short term teams, mission builder volunteers, visitors and family groups come to help us around the base or on outreaches. We need many different types of people to help in order to keep everything happening as planned. Below you will find the listing of our long term core staff who have specific jobs to do on the base as well as the general operations. Each staff member is full time and either lives on the base or close by. They all are volunteers in the sense that they all need to raise their own financial support. For more information about becoming a part of our core staff please click here.
If you would like to give a tax-deductible donation (valid for USA) for any of our staff, please visit the following link and write their name and last name. Thanks!
Terry and Donna Keith
Base Directors & School Leaders
I, Terry grew up in Peru in the Amazon jungle as a missionary/pastor’s son. Donna grew up in Loveland, Colorado, where we met in a youth group and were married 5 months later. Our history in Costa Rica goes back to 1974 when we moved down here to pioneer a ranch in the southern jungles. We ranched until 1985 when God called us to join Youth With A Mission – and we did our DTS in Miami, Florida as a family with four young children. We have continued to serve with YWAM since 1985 in over 20 countries. In 1990 we were released to pioneer the first YWAM base in Costa Rica. The ministry of YWAM in Costa Rica has grown to where we now have 3 operating locations in three provinces. We currently live in Costa Rica full time and direct the YWAM Heredia base where we offer training schools to prepare missionaries to do evangelism and community development around the world. We have been married since 1972 and have four grown children and eleven grandchildren. We continue to live this awesome adventure God has called us to.
My name is Jason Keith, I was born in Amarillo, Texas. My parents joined YWAM when I was 7 years old, so I guess I was called a YWAM’ee then. I did my DTS in Lakeside Montana in 1999. For my DTS outreach I went to Scotland and then to Egypt. Both were life-changing events, especially experiencing the different cultures. I came to Costa Rica to join my parents in 2007 and I have stayed as staff since that time. I met my wife Yohana here in Costa Rica, we got married in 2008. On the base I am in charge of the grounds maintenance and also help with the animals and other various duties. This has been a peaceful place to live and work in. However, please pray with me for additional support that we need.
Jonathan, from Costa Rica, straps on his harness and leads groups through the ropes course challenge here at YWAM Heredia and also helps with DTS, short term trips and community outreach.
April, an Ohio native, wrangles their three Gringuitico children, Summer, 5, Elijah, 3, and Grace, 1 months
I am Eliane Reichenbach from a small town in Switzerland. After working as draftsmen in architecture, I decided to do my DTS in Australia in 2010. One year later I joined YWAM staff in Australia, where I lived for 3 years, and from where I did some short trips to Central Asia. I had a desire to learn more about holistic community development, to do more effective work on my trips. This led me to do some training in Mexico and Costa Rica. My heart still is to bring holistic development to communities in need. My current responsibilities at the Heredia base are animal care, garden, aquaponics and being involved with a future DTS.
Lukas is from Switzerland. He is in charge of maintanance and building projects. He also runs the Woodmizer sawmill and comes up with creative and impressive solutions whenever we have a problem at the base. He is a RescueNet staff and loves adventure.
My name is Gabino Guevara, I’m from Nicoya, Guanacaste, Costa Rica. I’m 26 years old and full time staff at this base. I did my DTS in 2007, and an EARS school in 2009.
I’m staff of the Environmental school, coordinator of Bible distribution program in Heredia, and I also help with other chores at YWAM Heredia.
My vision and mission is to train and equip missionaries through the Environmental school and to promote the ministry and bible distribution project. I’m also support staff in areas like bible teaching, community development and others.
My name is Omar and I’m from Heredia, Costa Rica. I did my DTS here in 1998. It was a great blessing for me and I grew spiritually and personally. I’m obeying God’s call to serve Him full time. My professional formation is in the health and rescue area. I also help with maintenance and construction at our location.
